With fares around £1,500 return, the new additions have already started to have a ripple effect on transatlantic flights, which normally rise above £4,000 in the heavy London trade, to the New York market.

Now, as JetBlue rolls out new cabin floors while offering upgraded luxury suites, airlines compete on price.

Product. So, which lie is the strongest? Let’s see what happened between London and the US. get

London is connected to cities across the US, but neither market is as vibrant as New York, which typically offers around 25 one-way flights per day –

Most US airlines fly from Heathrow, but with tight slot controls, it’s not easy for airlines to add new services. JetBlue has secured temporary accommodation, and hopes to have it ready soon.

Review: British Airways Club World Business Class, A380, London Heathrow

If you’re flying from London to the United States, chances are you’ll depart from Heathrow – in fact, you can fly non-stop to over twenty American cities, or you can depart from nearby.

When JetBlue begins Heathrow service from JFK on August 11, 2021, New York will be the only city with nonstop flights served by all six airlines, although United has announced plans to add more LHR flights from Boston – as JetBlue, in 2022.

From September 29, 2021, JetBlue will offer just one service between New York City and Gatwick Airport – also with Mint’s new business class, on the Airbus A321LR.

British Airways operates a small number of non-stop flights between Gatwick and the United States, including seasonal services to Las Vegas (LAS) and Orlando (MCO), which the airline operates year-round from Heathrow.

TUI has also scheduled flights between Gatwick and the Orlando area, flying from Sanford (SFB) for now, before moving to Melbourne (MLB) next year. TUI doesn’t offer lie products, so you won’t see them appear on this list.

If you have a strong preference for Gatwick – perhaps connecting or opting out of a low-cost airline flight included in a separate itinerary – JetBlue’s upcoming JFK flight may be very attractive. However, for most travelers to the UK, Heathrow is the best choice, due to the many non-stop flights.

For anyone who frequents TPG, there’s a good chance you’ve booked a flight with miles, or at least considered your options there. As fun as it is to try a new product, even a £1,500 upfront payment might not be so attractive if you use Avios and can fly British Airways Club Suite to New York for as little as 100,000 Avios plus fees, taxes and surcharges.

However, business travelers and anyone booking cash tickets can prioritize flight times, travel times and cruise products. Especially if you’re deciding between five carriers, this is your list.

Is Business Class Worth It? Here’s How I Justify The Added Cost:

American, British Airways, Delta, United and Virgin Atlantic all fly their newest products from London to New York – although you may see old seats mixed in, for the purposes of this guide, they’ve focused on the best of each airline. . I’ll update where we stand once I get a chance to fly JetBlue’s new Mint product across the Atlantic in August but, for now, here we are.

JetBlue is the latest airline to offer flights across the pond, but while Mint is a relatively new addition, it’s quickly wiping out the competition.

The airline currently flies the new Airbus A321LR between New York and London, with service to Boston beginning in 2022. Although the A321LR is a narrow single-aisle aircraft, the cabin uses Airbus Airspace, which feels large. and new, with more privacy at the front of the plane.

JetBlue’s newest Mint cabin is available, arranged in a 1-1 configuration with a total of 24 suites. The first two rows are marked as studios and cost a $300 (£215) upgrade, with more space, a bigger screen and sleepwear. However, the remaining 22 suites are still very comfortable. Each offers sliding doors, state-of-the-art entertainment systems and Tuft & Needle mattresses fitted to every seat.

The onboard and catering services are also very good. JetBlue created the menu in collaboration with New York City-based Delicious Hospitality Group (DHG), with food cooked by Do & Co. Most of the meals I ate were restaurant quality – some of the best I’ve eaten on a plane.

However, Mint is not perfect. Notably, JetBlue is the only airline on this list that doesn’t include lounge access, but the airline’s in-flight product is so strong that we’re willing to accept a lower offer. Additionally, even if the airline does not offer a lounge at JFK, JetBlue may be able to secure a third-party lounge contract in London, giving business travelers a great alternative for their flight back to the US.

What we love: Restaurant-quality food, great rates, professional service, comfortable beds and bedding, sliding doors on every seat.

How To Make The Most Of Air Canada’s Business Class

Virgin Atlantic’s Upper Class Suite includes “sliding doors”, but that’s not its best feature. (Photo by Nicky Kelvin/The Points Guy)

Compared to the other airlines on this list, Virgin Atlantic is relatively small, but it is based in the UK. really busy The “Clubhouse” cabin is unique, and the new Airbus A350-1000 gives the airline a big step forward in aviation.

It is the first airline to offer an Upper Class Suite, a luxurious 1-2-1 product with sliding doors on every seat. Although we found the door less functional than we’d hoped – it’s more of a sliding panel than it should be.

– The overall product is a big step forward, having received a good score of 87% from TPG. The main issue here is that the suite only flies on Virgin’s A350s, and, as of now, the airline only has seven aircraft in its fleet.

Flight Information Premium Laurel Class/business Class

Still, it’s an easy ticket to stay on – Virgin Atlantic offers some of the best rewards we’ve seen across the pond, with low-rate redemptions available on most routes and dates. Please note: Just like British Airways, redemption comes with a hefty fee, which can be up to £450 (or more!) one way.

What we love: Unique floor experience and Clubhouse lounge, delicious food and drinks, comfortable beds, in-flight lounge, LHR lounge (temporarily closed)

British Airways was among the first in the world to offer lie-flat seats in business class – on many flights the same product is still flying today. With a 2-4-2 configuration and a combination of forward and rear facing seats, it can be cramped and cramped, with other passengers facing each other.

Suite Club helps alleviate both of those concerns. Housed in a 1-2-1 configuration, it has a sliding door, like Virgin Atlantic, but is a bit too short to be fully functional – TPG’s Ben Smithson even described it as “worthless” in his review. However, he was very pleased with the product overall, especially when it came time to close his eyes, saying it was “one of the best flatbeds” he’s owned.

Business Class Opens To The Masses As Affordable Refuge From Covid 19

Currently, Suite Club is available on all Airbus A350-1000 BA and Boeing 787-10, and approximately 20 Boeing 777-200ER and 777-300ER. The remaining 777s will undergo the upgrade in late 2021, and the remaining 787 Dreamliners could get new suites in the coming years. Few armed aircraft remained intact during this outbreak. Although this product is only available on twenty US routes at the moment, it may be added soon.

What we love: Large lounge at JFK (temporarily closed), great space and storage, sliding doors, comfortable White Company beds, arrivals lounge at LHR (temporarily closed)

If there was an award for “best upgrade”, it would probably go to United Airlines. Prior to widespread use in the Polaris fleet, one type of long-haul business class was a disaster.

With its 1-2-1 layout and stylish design, the United Polaris gives the platform plenty of personal space – and looks good doing it too. Previously, the airline partnered with Saks Fifth Avenue on premium bedding and launched a premium Polaris Lounge on key destinations, from Newark to San Francisco.
