Air India has now announced several new temporary domestic flights. Among other airlines, most of the temporary expansion was from Mumbai Terminal 2, followed by Delhi, with Air India choosing to operate mainly from Chennai and Delhi instead of Chennai.
Therefore, Air India will operate Delhi-Vadodara and Delhi-Raipur flights on the same day. Bhopal-Pune and Mumbai-Visakhapatnam are monopoly sectors for Air India. Air India already offers direct flights on the Visakhapatnam-Mumbai route, but continues via Raipur.
Ahmedabad-Chennai sector had 3 SpiceJet flights per day unlike others. But due to the grounding of the 737 MAX and Jet Airways’ focus on adding temporary flights using the 737 and slots, the sector now sees only 1x daily flights and delays almost daily. Air India took advantage of this situation.

Air India First Class Report, New York Jfk To Delhi, India
Air India has around 23 ground planes. Some of these aircraft will soon be back in the air and two of them will be deployed on temporary routes. The last three trends may be due to greater use of existing aircraft. It’s been 50 years since the first Boeing 747 rolled off the assembly line for PanAm. More than 1,500 rigid jumbo jets have been built since September 28, 1968. One of the first customers, Air India, received its first Boeing 747 in April 1971. Air India has launched 30 of these Boeing 747 aircraft. The 747 has rightly established itself as the queen of the skies as one of the world’s most beloved aircraft.
Currently, Air India still has 4 Boeing 747-400 (VT-ESO/P, VT-EVA/B) aircraft. These are aircraft that have been in service for north of 22 years and are very old. They have 12 first-class seats on each of the 747s; There are 26 business class seats and 385 economy class seats.
The lower side of the nose of a first class aircraft is in a 2-2 configuration. Business Class again occupies the entire upper deck in a 2-2 configuration. The economy seats in the 3-4-3 are located on the lower deck behind the first class cabin.
The Boeing 747-400 normally flies Air India 1 for VVIP operations for the Government of India. 747-400 operates regularly on Mumbai-Hyderabad-Jeddah-Kochi-Jeddah-Hyderabad-Mumbai.
Air India Is Certified As A 3 Star Airline
Additionally, Air India has allocated sky rotations on Delhi-Mumbai during the peak season. Sometimes it operates as AI 191/144 on Delhi-Mumbai route instead of 777, but very rarely. Air India has scheduled 747 domestic routes like Delhi-Mumbai and Delhi-Kolkata during the festivities.
When Jet Airways ceased operations, several airlines expanded significantly due to poor performance in the domestic market. Air India got only 24 temporary seats. With around 24 ground flights, namely Delhi-Raipur; Mumbai-Visakhapatnam sector etc. can be traveled only few times.
To tide over the crisis, Air India will deploy 747-400s on both domestic sectors on a daily basis from June 1, 2019 to July 1, 2019. Check out the new 747 Air India route here.
