Delta Air Lines said Wednesday it is cutting flights to South Korea amid growing concerns about a new virus spreading out of China.

Delta Air Lines said it was suspending flights between Seoul and Minneapolis from Saturday until April 30. Delta also said it would cut flights from Seoul to Atlanta, Detroit and Seattle to five a week. Last fall, the company said it was operating about 28 flights a week on those routes.
The Atlanta-based airline, the world’s largest by revenue, will also delay the launch of new flights between Seoul’s Incheon Airport and Manila. Instead of starting on March 29, the launch was pushed back to May 1.
Delta, United and American have already suspended all flights to mainland China and Hong Kong. United said this week that demand for its service to China has fallen, with March bookings to other Asia-Pacific countries down 75 percent since the outbreak.
For the first time on Tuesday, the number of new cases of COVID-19 inside China exceeded those outside China, according to World Health Organization data. South Korea has reported more than 1,200 cases and 11 deaths.
Several Asian and Middle Eastern airlines have suspended flights to other Asian countries outside of China. The list includes Korean Air, Japan Airlines and Philippine Airlines. Singapore Airlines has suspended flights to several destinations in the US and Europe due to low demand.

Delta Air Lines has announced that it will begin operating flights between Minneapolis and St. Louis from two global hubs starting October 2. Paul International Airport (MSP) and Seoul Incheon International Airport (ICN).
