Eva Air From Seattle To Taipei
This flight marks the end of my trip to South Africa, helping me complete an eastern circuit around the world. Although there were many wonderful returns and flights on this trip, what I was looking forward to the most was my flight with EVA. I have heard things like this!
Star Alliance’s Eva Air Is An Underappreciated Mileage Transfer Partner
The day before, I flew from Johannesburg to Hong Kong before flying to Taipei on the EVA A330 from Hong Kong. I landed at TPE after 5pm and went to the Star Business Unit Lounge. EVA operates many lounges in TPE, many of which I almost passed, but the Star Lounge was very nice and a good place for me to relax for 6 hours in Taipei.
The cruise started on time, and passengers seated in business class were invited to join in advance with Star Alliance Gold and advanced members of EVA’s personal loyalty program. I was seated 5K in the back of the front business cabin on the right side of the plane. When I got to my seat, the amenity kit, pajamas and slippers were waiting for me. I was greeted when I sat down, the options were orange juice, champagne and water. I always choose champagne to celebrate that I am alive and can order champagne.
Love that the foam is not stiff or soft and the head rest works while sitting and is comfortable while sleeping. The seat cushion is soft. It’s a good idea and I always wonder how many tables there are. The right side houses the standard 110V outlet, USB port, headphones, reading light and seat controls.
Storage: The back herringbone table using EVA has plenty of storage space. I appreciate this a lot, because the seats in this group usually require you to climb into the overhead or stuff your luggage in every nook and cranny around the table seated (like the A340s in South Africa). good compartment next to the control seat for headphones, chargers, etc. A big boy under the knee for tools, shoes, laptop and reading material, and enough space under the feet to store my backpack. There is also a small cubby in the arm rest that works well for one of my lenses that I am planning to replace.
Flight Review: Eva Airways 777 Business Class Taipei To Seattle
Comfort: The chair itself is very comfortable whether sitting or lying down, and this is helped by the good mattress from EVA. They provide comfort in a flannel duvet that keeps the light from getting too warm. Since I wrote this report late, I don’t remember if there were individual air vents, but the temperature of the room was great and I didn’t remember the vents. Finally, the pillow is big and softer than the cheap foamy mattress you get on airplanes, I slept well and the flight was very fast.
Amenities: EVA provides their business class passengers with luxury amenities designed by Rimova including pajamas and slippers. Beauty accessories include eye mask, socks, chapstick, face moisturizer, hand cream, toothbrush, toothpaste, ear plugs, comb and microfiber cloth. The pajamas were so comfortable that I changed into them to sleep. I love when airlines provide slippers because I like to wear my shoes when I sit down and hate the idea of leaving my seat with nothing on my feet. These slippers are easy enough to take off during the flight and are perfect for walking to the bathroom.
Service and Dining: Many carriers in Asia are known for their excellent service, and EVA is no exception. The cabin was full on this flight and the crew worked to make sure everyone was taken care of, but I never had to ask for water and the food was served pretty quickly without was rushed or rushed.
EVA is essentially serving Veuve Cliquot champagne in business class (and Krug on flights to CDG and JFK), an expensive option that often sells for more than $50/bottle. This type of wine is usually reserved for first class on other airlines. Dinner begins with an amuse bouche, followed by the main. I had the steamed Chilean sea bass and it was great. Tons of flavor, not overcooked. In an effort to be as clear as possible in my review, I ordered two desserts (a difficult decision, but again, in the name of the review). The fruit was pretty good and the ice cream wasn’t much better, but that’s how I feel about the review.
Eva Air Business Class Reviews
After dinner, the staff filled my cup with waves and brought out Fiji water before dimming the house. Behind the cab is a bar to itself with plenty of wine, water and some snacks for those who want to do their thing. I went to bed, slept for about eight hours, and woke up to watch the sunset over eastern Alaska. It is at this time that the crew gathers around to eat food before arriving. Considering that many of these airline meals are breakfast, EVA decided to have something for lunch and dinner. It starts with a preparation of cheese and charcuterie like you would find at a European breakfast, but ends with ravioli. He’s fine, but he doesn’t want to eat because my last meal was dinner a few hours ago. This is my only criticism, and I realize that this particular issue is a matter of personal preference.
Final thoughts: From my last flight with Turkish Airlines, where I did not leave the business class, until the flight with EVA I thought everything went well. EVA seats are more personal and have more space than Turkish 777-300 seats, so hypothetically speaking, EVA is the winner. The food was great, I had a good night’s sleep, the service was warm and caring, and I was treated a lot. It’s a win-win and exactly what I’m looking for when booking business class seats. I can’t wait to fly with EVA on my next trip this year, this time from LAX to Taipei. Here’s a recap of my EVA Air Royal Laurel Business Class award redemption I did in summer 2019. Read more about my experience on the SFO-TPE flight or find out how I’m fully booked what a trip for $50 tax! As the world slowly opens up, it might not be a bad idea to prepare yourself for post-Covid travel so you can take these points when the better ones come!
I started my journey back from Beijing, where I flew Air China Business Class. I have 6.5 hours in Taipei before my connecting EVA Air flight to Seattle. Although it’s only 45 minutes from the city and I wanted to be around a bit, I decided to spend it in EVA’s main dining room, doing some (relatively) coding while waiting for my flight.
The hotel is starting to show its age (only because Taoyuan Airport Terminal 2 is so old and the construction of Terminal 3 is slow), but I still don’t have high hopes. In fact, the Plaza Premium Lounge with Priority Pass membership (which includes the Chase Sapphire Reserve and many other travel cards) is a better option for most travelers in my opinion. I will dive deeper into the release options in TPE in a separate article.

Still, it’s nice to have (free and delicious) food on demand, a place to relax to get some work done, and to be able to take a hot shower before my long flight.
The return journey was similar to my SFO-TPE flight, where I described my experience in more detail (you can read more about it here ).
It’s worth noting that flights out of Taipei (now discontinued) receive Rimowa beauty products, unlike those offered by Ferragamo on domestic flights.
Probably the most amazing thing I’ve seen in the air. Grilled onions are also very good (oh, I miss them so much…). Not pictured, but they also have amazing bread!
