I checked in through the Air France website and it worked fine. Although it was an Alitalia codeshare, I was able to add my Flying Blue number, change seats and add my passport details.

The site offers a business class upgrade for a reasonable $579 for the flight segment. I declined, but figured it wasn’t a bad deal.
Air France To Add More Flights To Los Angeles, Miami
Check-in was quick (faster than most business class flights, actually) and the staff were so friendly that they even helped me rescan my passport.
Tom Bradley International Terminal is still undergoing major renovations and security lines are long but well managed. Even though the Emirates and Air France A380s were disembarking at the same time, I was only 5 minutes into the TSA pre-line.
That day, flight departed from gate 159 – the same gate I had traveled to westbound in first class on Cathay Pacific a few weeks earlier.
Boarding was surprisingly quick and orderly. There were 516 passengers on the plane, which seemed to take up half the terminal, but the gate agents were clearly keeping it under control with large signs and a queuing system at the various gate areas. Impressively, we were all on board in less than 25 minutes. Most A320s take longer to fully seat.

However, it didn’t help as ATC delayed our departure by an hour after we were all settled.
The A380 is still relatively new and the economy class seats look good, if not luxurious. I found the seats to be well positioned – I’m 6ft 4in and can’t stretch much, but I didn’t feel claustrophobic.
To my surprise, the flight attendants were very friendly and knowledgeable. Drinks were served about 90 minutes after takeoff and 2.5 hours after takeoff in a windy LA sunset.
I love the food here – no spice but it’s delicious food. Air France offers fine champagne, lovely syrah and even dessert wine in economy class. I recently took the equivalent of an international business class flight (but not Dom Pérignon).
Air France: Flying In Luxury From Lax To Paris
There are few free seats in economy class, so there is no free space to sleep. But that’s not the problem, I fell asleep early after watching Maze Runner and didn’t wake up until breakfast. I don’t like breakfast (forgot to take a picture).
Due to the delay, I was worried about the transfer time to Paris, as the airport is still a poor representation for people who missed their connection. However, on this day it only takes 15 minutes to travel from the international terminal to the Shenzhen terminal with minimal security and immigration queues.
I was at the gate before boarding and had time to buy an $8 bottle of water from a nearby coffee shop.
All in all, I think it’s as good as a transatlantic economy (on a full plane). Very friendly staff, great food, great alcohol selection and comfortable seating.

French B offers 2 or 3 flights a week to Paris’ second airport, Paris Orly (ORY). These flights are operated by B Airbus A350 aircraft from France. However, as a low-cost airline, French-B offers more customers. Instead of lie-flat seats for long-haul flights, its planes have premium offerings with reclining seats.
Air Tahiti competes directly with Air France by offering flights to Paris’ main international airport, Charles de Gaulle (CDG). The airline is best known for its service between Los Angeles and Tahiti, French Polynesia. Using its Boeing 787 fleet, Air Tahiti offers 30 business class seats in a 2-2-2 configuration, giving it a large share of the business market on this route.
Air France will operate Airbus A350-900 aircraft with a total of 324 seats on the new Nice-Los Angeles route. Among them, 34 are in business class, 24 are in premium economy class, and 266 are in economy class. In addition to in-flight WiFi, customers can also enjoy a high-definition virtual touch screen. Business class seats are arranged in a 1-2-1 order, with a fully flat bed about two meters long. Air France’s premium economy cabin has a flat floor of 48 cm and 124 degrees of recline, while its economy version has 118 degrees of recline and 79 cm of legroom.
