Gofundme Small Business Relief Fund

Gofundme Small Business Relief Fund – April 13 Update: After the GoFundMe partnership implementation was suspended, we’ve partnered with GoFundMe to provide an easy way for businesses to get involved with this feature, as we’ve seen great interest and support for the program from both consumers and businesses. .

The impact of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic has been incredibly hard on small businesses, but it has been particularly devastating for local “high street” businesses that typically do most of their business in person. Our data shows that US consumer interest in restaurants has fallen by 67% since March 10, with businesses like yoga studios and breweries seeing steep declines of 78% and 85% due to social distancing.* Many businesses have had to temporarily close, seemingly impossible to continue pay your employees and pay your rent. Fortunately, loyal customers want to help them through this unprecedented crisis and are looking for ways to intervene immediately.

After announcing $25 million in support for local businesses, Yelp today announces a partnership with GoFundMe, the world’s largest social fundraising platform, to give independent businesses a quick and easy way to start raising money and accepting donations through their Yelp page. Together, Yelp and GoFundMe are making it easy for people to donate directly to the businesses they love and support their communities during this challenging time.

Here’s How Small Businesses Can Get Grants On Gofundme

We’re partnering with GoFundMe to give businesses hardest hit by the pandemic an easy way to start fundraisers that can be featured on their Yelp pages. Users will see a “Donate” icon on participating businesses’ Yelp pages to prompt them to take action. This gives the community a simple and easy way to show support for their favorite local businesses.

To kick-start this effort and help communities support the businesses they love, the Yelp Foundation and GoFundMe have pledged to donate up to $1 million, with $500 matched to businesses that raise at least $500 on GoFundMe. ** In addition, businesses are expected to contribute to the matching fund over the next week to help provide much-needed relief to even more businesses across the country.

Restaurants, nightlife, beauty and fitness, and active living businesses are eligible for Yelp’s GoFundMe feature. Businesses must have a verified Yelp page and five or fewer locations to participate.

Businesses that can stay open are adapting as they try to stay afloat while supporting their customers: Restaurants are offering delivery and takeout, and gyms have turned to virtual classes. We hope that with the funds raised through this partnership, companies will be able to support their employees and cover ongoing costs so that they are in a better position to continue operating during this crisis or to reopen after we overcome it.

Gofundme Will No Longer Take A Cut Of Some Donations

Along with our recently announced help for local businesses, this is another part of our increased efforts to respond to the widespread impact of this pandemic, and we continue to explore different ways to address the challenges facing our community.

A fund to help small businesses where people can donate to support the overall initiative. Until the fund is exhausted, donations to the relief fund will be made as one-time grants of $500 to eligible small businesses that have started a fundraiser through the Small Business Relief Initiative or already have a GoFundMe. For fundraisers started before this announcement or outside of this partnership, the organizer can update the fundraiser description with #SmallBusinessRelief to receive an email explaining how to apply for support from the Small Business Relief Fund.

Andy McMillan didn’t expect to see a donation request on Yelp for his Portland startup Suckerpunch, a recently opened mocktail bar that was temporarily closed due to the COVID-19 outbreak. McMillan didn’t start any fundraising, but Yelp and GoFundMe did it for him, as did tens of thousands of other small businesses, each asking for $2,500.

“Support Suckerpunch,” reads a tab on McMillan’s Yelp page, which links to an auto-generated GoFundMe. “Covid-19 has affected local businesses and their employees.
