How To Start A Bartending Catering Business – Business cards are no longer just for the starchy office mix. They are a very useful way to make connections in any industry – and hospitality is no exception. They are a convenient (non-social) way for you to share your contact information – whether it’s behind your bar, with clients or potential clients, or at industry events such as the Bar Institute or Tales of the Cocktail.

If you don’t have your own business card yet, here are some tips to get you started:

If you’re a traveling bartender with no intention of changing careers, finding freelance work, or building relationships with others in the industry… well, you can skip the business cards, maybe they will not be as effective. But if you have any of these goals (and I hope you do!) business cards are an excellent social networking tool – and very cheap.

If you are looking for new work or building your brand, skip this section and go to “Get your card” below. If not, it’s worth seeing if your bar/restaurant offers staff cards. Explain why you want them (I’ll highlight point #1 above) and how you’re interested in bringing people back to the bar. They can buy the card for you without spending any money on you.

However: I strongly recommend getting your own set of business cards (see below) even if your restaurant/bar offers something. You never know when an opportunity will present itself where it is right. Just my two cents!

I hope I have now convinced you that cards are worth making. So how did you do it? The good news: it’s easy and cheap. So don’t delay any longer! Let’s do it.

Once you’ve entered everything above, you’re good to go! Don’t focus so much on those options that you procrastinate that you never make the card. (Been there, done that!) You’re allowed to spend an hour or two on these things, but really, don’t let it bother you.

Now that your card is issued, it’s time to do it. Again, don’t let this slow you down. I would recommend using an inexpensive business card printing service (such as Vistaprint, Moo.com or OvernightPrints.com).

Each of these services has a tool that allows you to type in and design your card information on the go. They are also reasonably priced. Usually the price of each card goes down a lot, so I buy 250 or 500.

No more delay! We’ve put off getting business cards for years because we wanted them to be “perfect” – and because of that, we’ve missed many opportunities to give cards that could have been great business opportunities or relationship. don’t be like us For $25 you can get 250 business cards that are pretty good – and those 250 cards will buy you some time to design something perfect and rearrange it when you’re done.

He’s responsible for keeping things moving here, but you’ll also find him stopping by the Mixology Talk podcast or hanging out at the craft cocktail club. I really like this idea and am thinking of doing it! I’ve been to a lot of parties and weddings lately and I’ve noticed that a “bar” is becoming popular. In other words, you can pay someone to set up a wet bar and serve drinks to party guests. I know what you’re thinking, don’t you! Stay with me on this one. I have seen small open bars get paidupon.with.for 4-5 hours of work! Why Cocktail Catering Is A Good Side Hustle For Bartenders

This is important because once you start advertising and get word of mouth you will have a hard time changing the name. Something interesting or interesting. Or just go for something basic like AAA mobile business.

It doesn’t matter, as long as you like it and customers and clients remember you. (See my post, List of Home Business Ideas [several with low startup costs] for more great ideas for starting your own business.)

Make sure you need a state license and tax ID number. It’s very possible – don’t skip this important step. You also need to know what the laws are and what license you need to serve alcohol. Check with your local liquor board to see exactly what is required in your city/state. You may also need a certificate – so remember there’s more to it than just saying “I’m open for business”. Alcohol can have negative effects. Cover your base.

You need to build a small bar or buy it at a furniture store. You can pick one up pretty cheap, check the local classifieds to see if anyone is selling it. You can check out eBay as there are some great, all in one bars that you can buy that can be easily broken down when the event is over. You start with a lot of resources, think about who you can pull off with. You will need some kind of trailer or large van. You will also need bottle openers, glasses, napkins, decorations, etc. Just think about what you want and what it will take to get started. You can build your business over time.

If you are new to mixing drinks, I suggest you buy a book on it. You don’t need to know every drink out there, just the basics. Once you learn the basic drinks you can go out and slowly start buying your own alcohol. It can be a little expensive at first, but you can always ask for a deposit from the client so you can buy the alcohol in advance. And remember, as I said before any business needs a license.

Once you have your license (and any bartending classes), wouldn’t a nice dress look good? I recommend wearing what the occasion dictates! If it’s formal, use a good tail tux of your choice. Get creative! You’ll get a lot more business from other party guests if you look good!

Now for the announcement. I recommend phone books and classified ads (even though they’re old fashioned!) A good web page can work too – and these days, if you don’t have a website… well, it look like you’re not really current. Visit party and wedding stores and ask if you can leave a display of your business cards. I would say this market is pretty small and you probably don’t have much competition.
