Work at a recruiting company to gain some experience before opening a recruiting agency. Also look for recruitment services such as lawyers or computer programmers, and decide if you want to specialize in one industry or across multiple industries. Once you know what type of agency you want to start, prepare a business plan and include information about where your agency will be located, operating costs, and how you will market it. what will you do? Finally, file the paperwork to set up an LLC for your agency. To learn how to apply for a small business loan or get specialty insurance, read on! My name is Adam Bolton and I recently worked for a recruitment agency – I’ve been there for about 8 years. But I want something else. .I wanted to provide more for my kids (financially and father time!) and decided the best way was to start my own.
I’ve decided to write a series of blogs that will (hopefully) take me through my first year at ABrecruit. In this first episode, I want to share with you how I started my company and what you can expect from your startup.
So you want to start your own recruitment agency – the best of the best. Hopefully you have some domain experience (.Net development in my case) and are able to apply your business knowledge to your new venture.
Starting An Agency :: The Rec
I’ve been with the same company for almost 8 years, so it’s hard to leave Aram (and colleagues). I resign on the 2nd
In January, I spent 1 week at home on notice (taking care of my kids and grabbing some XBOX time!).
I’ve never worked so hard since starting my own business – and I’ve loved every minute of it.
I’m a bit of a cliché about the ABrecruit ethos, but in ABC sales/recruiting it used to be “closed forever” – now I think it’s “keep in touch forever”. I met more decision makers and developers than in the past. I’m open and honest with my candidates (who like my hours, see below!) and my clients and people in general seem to respond well to that.
Tips For Improving Your Hiring Process
Now, I work very solidly from 8:00 am to 9:00 pm on weekdays and have all day off on Saturdays because my hobby is football!
I mention work hours because you really start to live and breathe work – I’m sitting with my daughter watching a movie and I can’t help but check my email! You’re also proud to hear your daughter tell her cousin on Skype (yes, my 5 year old knows how to use Skype, she has her own account) “my dad has his own business”.
Candidates also like this time – a lot of them call me between 6pm and 9pm because they don’t have to leave work to talk to me, they can relax and tell me what they actually did ? I’ve had clients tell me how excited they were to receive their resumes at 9pm and I told them that’s all they got with ABrecruit!
I’ve only been in the business for 6 weeks and it’s still early days so stay tuned for the next episode of Adam Bolton – Tenant to Rich.
