According to a new rumor from Apple-centric YouTuber Luke Miani, the upcoming MacBook Pro will feature a UHS-II SD card reader that offers three times faster read speeds than the UHS-I card readers used in previous MacBook Pro and MacBook Air models. . However, Miani also reveals internal details that the new MacBook Pros will be limited to 32GB of RAM.

The MacBook Pro rumor mill is firing on all cylinders, and YouTuber Luke Miani is adding to the pile. According to Miani, the next iteration of the MacBook Pro will have a cool feature that Apple experts have long requested, but which Cupertino experts say could break the computer.

In a YouTube video and AppleTrack article published today, Miani claims that the upcoming MacBook Pro will have a UHS-II SD card slot. While many have speculated that the SD card reader will grace the MacBook Pro this year, Miani cites a “reliable source” that says the slot supports UHS-II speeds.
UHS-II card readers have a read speed of up to 312 MB/s, which is three times faster than the UHS-I readers found in most laptops. The Apple Macbook Air (2017) and 2015 MacBook Pro are the last Apple laptops to have an SD card reader, and these machines average read speeds of 75-90MB/s.
While the addition of a fast SD card reader is good news (especially for video and photography professionals), Miani also reported a disappointing rumor: the next MacBook Pros may be limited to 32GB of RAM. This may seem like enough RAM for most people, but IT professionals and videographers looking for extra RAM may be disappointed with Apple’s high-end laptop.
Note that some rumors suggest that the new MacBook Pros will come with 64GB of RAM. Additionally, Apple is selling MacBook Pros with 64GB of RAM at press time.

Miani also reports that the Touch ID sensor on the upcoming MacBook Pros will be backlit. Hopefully, Apple plans to add animations and light patterns to this rumored backlight to highlight notifications, logins, and more. These animations are Miani’s personal preferences and are not included in his insider information.
Like all rumours, this should be taken with a grain of salt. As we get closer to the release of whatever product Apple has planned for the MacBook Pro line, the rumors keep coming faster. Miani doesn’t always release rumors about Apple products, so it’s worth noting.
