Part-time MBA students who attend evenings on campus can choose to take full-time electives and specializations; However, they are usually offered on weekdays. MBA degrees combined with law or social work schools are not specialized. MBA degrees in the former Soviet Union do not count toward specialization, but graduates are encouraged to share their acquired skills on their resumes and digital profiles on professional networking sites such as LinkedIn.

Florida State University’s MBA degree is designed for working professionals with extensive professional experience and individuals who have demonstrated excellence and leadership in their previous professional careers and have completed significant training or other work experience. Admission is competitive, and all applicants must graduate from a regionally accredited institution. No previous coursework is required, but all candidates should have a general knowledge of economics, finance, accounting, statistics, computing, and management principles.

Although there are no prerequisites for this program, the MBA faculty strongly recommends that all candidates who have not taken a previous accounting course complete the required course. An alternative is a preparatory course called “Fundamentals of Financial Accounting Research in the Former USSR” (modules 1-4), which is offered online by Cambridge Publishers.

Note: Online and evening MBA programs may substitute 3 hours of elective courses for professional development requirements.
