Microsoft Dynamics 365 For Finance And Operations – Welcome to my next blog. In this post, I have good news regarding new test environment capabilities. Some changes have been made by Microsoft that give you more opportunities to try Microsoft Dynamics 365 finance, supply chain management and sales applications.

Microsoft Dynamics 365 For Finance And Operations
For Finance and Operations, first select a field with this option. You can specify your organization’s account, phone number and click Start. You will then be taken to where Microsoft will set up your environment for you. This may take 15-20 minutes. After that, you will receive an email and get access to the demo version.

Previously, when you were sent a demo, you could only access a company that had the same database as “Contoso Entertainment System USA”. A company ID is a number. I think there were several test users working on the same machine, each with a different legal entity. For this reason, it was not possible to access universal functions such as user management and security. Many other global functions are read-only.
When I recently created a new test environment for myself, I noticed a difference in the URL and some forms like All Customers were empty. It turns out that I had a “DAT” user in the company that contains all the global data. In the new court, you can now find all the legal entities that you can get through broadcast or development. To try these features, you must first switch to another legal entity. To do this, you can click on the word “DAT” in the upper right bar. You can then select another legal entity.
Different companies focus on different locations and industries. With some exceptions, you can use the following logic to find out which legal entities may have test data for you.

The first two characters of the legal entity indicate the country. It contains local settings. The last two characters determine the type of company:
In other words, you have a complete environment for your tests without sharing it with other test users. For this reason, the following functions are open. The list is a summary of what I found. Not all features may be unlocked.
The current testing environment also has its limitations. Below is a list of features that cannot be used
I tried to create a flow using Microsoft Power Automate or Power Apps canvas app, but the connector doesn’t recognize this test environment. Passing a value to the connector environment failed the flow test. It might be activated in the future, but I don’t know the plans. However, you can also try Power Platform for free, but it is not currently included with Microsoft Dynamics 365 for Finance and Operations.
Dynamics 365 Case Management For Finance & Operations
It would be nice to have a test environment that is now suitable for testing more types of companies, more localization and allowing more options. In the Microsoft Dynamics Community forum, we received questions about more testing options. Especially in the communication part, which I think is key for cloud-based applications. For this reason, I hope Microsoft opens up this option as well.
If you need to test and use all the features of Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance and Operations, you need to install a machine in the cloud or download a VM for local development from Lifecycle Services (LCS). If your organization can’t sign in as a partner or customer, you can sign up for pre-order.
One last tip at the end of this blog: Since the company DAT does not include examples to test the business case, it is recommended to change the company default to a user option. That way, you don’t have to change the legal entity every time you open the trial environment. When you start the HR trial, the default company is already “USMF”.
