Michelle and Cam adopted a little girl named Lily from Vietnam, unknown to the rest of the family. Let the fun begin.

The story begins when Michelle and Cam lock baby Lily in the car after she unsuccessfully embarrasses herself trying to impress an Asian pediatrician. Trying to get Lily out of the car is one of Stonestreet’s greatest efforts as Cam. Equally hilarious is Haley (Sarah Hyland) who runs into her father Phil (Ty Burrell) during his driving test.

We first meet Fizbo, Cam’s clown ego, who decides to attend Luke’s (Nolan Gould) birthday party. Phil isn’t a fan of clowns, but Fizbo, a tough guy who’s also afraid of scorpions, is a hit nonetheless. But Claire’s holsters aren’t, and Luke ends up in the emergency room after the crossbow incident throws the party into chaos.

One of the funniest moments in the show’s storylines happened early that day when Cam and Jai got together to play racquetball. Jay is uncomfortable spending time in the locker room with Cam and things get awkward when “her bottoms touch”. Cam states that Jay didn’t at least “jump” while trying to comfort her.

It’s Valentine’s Day and it’s time to meet Phil’s alter ego, Clive Bixby. Clive shows up as Phil and Claire try to spice up the night. Claire (or Juliana as she goes by) has a bit of a wardrobe malfunction. At the same time, Jay is pressured by the famous comedian David Brenner. Not to be outdone, Michelle and Cam try to help love-starved Manny (Rico Rodriguez) win the girl over with his usual dramatic style.

Michelle has difficulty showing affection for Cam in public, causing the couple to discuss whether it’s okay for him to kiss in public. At the same time, Alex (Ariel Winter) endures a bumpy journey towards her first kiss. Not to be outdone, Phil has a hard time with the printer owned by Jay, with whom Gloria plays with the ghost of her dead grandmother while preparing dinner. The earthquake shakes three families. Locked in a bathroom with a plumber, Claire learns more about herself than she cares to admit.
