El Paso Inc. The World Waterpark Association honored Wet N’ Wild Waterworld and the El Paso Drowning Coalition with the Kelly Ogle Memorial Safety Award. Wet N Wild and the El Paso Drowning Coalition were honored together for their efforts to promote water safety in the Borderlands. Since the coalition began in March 2010, the average number of child drownings in El Paso County has decreased by more than 60%. The award is presented annually to individuals or organizations who have made significant contributions to the safety of visitors and workers in the water production industry.

The Christian Drowning Relief Alliance is hosting the Fort Stewardship Olympics on Sunday, August 7, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. 8:00pm Wet ‘N Wild Waterworld El Paso, Texas El Paso Drowning Prevention Coalition Hosts 14th Annual Christian Castle Stewardship Olympiad 8:00am At 8:00 p.m. Sunday, August 7, 2022 at Wet ‘n’ Wild Waterworld. The race is named for Christian Castle, the son of Laura and Eddie Castle, who co-founded the Coalition for Drowning Prevention in 2008, who died sixteen years ago by drowning. Reflects the opportunity for professionals from across the city to compete in life-saving skills. Training and activities that lifeguards experience every day in their daily work. The lifeguard teams competing are four teams from Wet ‘N’ Wild Waterworld, three teams from Fort Bliss and one team from Socorro Independent School District Aquatics. The teams are rounded out with one from the YMCA Paso Del Norte branch and 11 teams from the city of El Paso. The event is hosted by the El Paso Drowning Prevention Coalition, and each group has four members and at least one woman. There are five specific skill challenges, including aerobics, shallow water boarding, table walking, two-minute rescue and ax and combat. Prizes will be awarded for first through third place in each individual skills challenge and an overall winner will be announced at the end of the competition. The Drowning Prevention Coalition is an organization of over 31 agencies in El Paso County and the surrounding area dedicated to spreading the message of “Respect the Water” by teaching water safety and giving children and adults a place to learn to swim.
