Entrepreneurs can contact UNLV’s Small Business Development Center for advice on starting and growing a business, meet with the city’s economic development team, apply for a license or work permit, and register with the Secretary of State’s office. It also connects entrepreneurs with low-cost loans and employers with potential workers and offers Spanish-language services to cater to the city’s Hispanic population.
Connection services are open to small businesses, with an emphasis on minority-, women- and veteran-owned businesses, according to Rich Easter, the city’s director of grants. On Tuesday, he and other city officials held a ribbon-cutting ceremony to open what they called the first-of-its-kind center.
Former Democratic Mayor John Lee, who announced his Republican gubernatorial bid this year, said the city would push the plan hard.
“We are not going to fail, we are going to succeed. I hope that this model will be developed in many other places in the United States,” said Lee.

CHEYENNE – After more than two years in business, Toppers Pizza in downtown Cheyenne has unexpectedly closed.
On Tuesday, a sign was posted on the door of the pizzeria that read: “We regret to inform you that the store is closed.” No reason given and the door is locked. Calls to the store were not answered.
The Cheyenne location has also been removed from the list of locations on the Toppers Pizza website. It has been removed by Google and its Facebook page is no longer listed.

Cheyenne Downtown Development Authority Executive Director Vicki Dugger was initially unaware of the closure when contacted Tuesday afternoon, but later expressed how sorry she was to hear about it.
“It’s always sad to hear that a business in the city has closed,” he said. “I’m not sure what happened to the Cheyenne store, which was part of a small national chain, but looking at their listings for other locations, I wonder if they decided to focus more on college towns and students.”

The franchise that operates the Cheyenne store also has two locations in Laramie, Colorado, Loveland, Colorado and Longmont, Colorado. As of Tuesday morning, only the Laramie location was still open on the Toppers website.
