Turkish Airlines Business Class Review 2022

The first stop of my world tour was Israel, where I flew with LOT Polish Airlines. After spending a few days with my family, it was time to move on to my next destination – Hong Kong. I flew from Tel Aviv to Istanbul to Hong Kong on a Turkish Airlines Boeing 777-300ER.

Turkish Airlines 787 Business Review I One Mile At A Time

I have flown Turkey before and this is my favorite airline. They may not have the newest planes, but I love the service, the food, the comfortable seats, the free Wi-Fi on board, and the warmest and friendliest crew I’ve ever met. .

The two-hour flight from Tel Aviv to Istanbul went smoothly. We were treated to a sumptuous dinner and watched a few TV shows before arriving in Istanbul.

Whether you’re arriving or transferring, put on your comfortable walking shoes. It took me 40 minutes from the time I got off the plane on the Tel Aviv flight to the time I arrived at the new gate. So if you have a connection there, make sure you have at least 90 minutes between flights.

I followed the “short cut” (90 minutes or less) signs to take me to a private security screening area. The check-in process was quick and painless, although I was asked to turn on my laptop.

Flying With A Splendid Crew On Turkish Airlines’ 777 Business Class

My connection was only 90 minutes, so I didn’t get to enjoy the wonderful Turkish Airlines business lounge. I’ve been there once before, during breakfast, and it was amazing. So much food and such variety! I would really like to see what they serve for dinner, but maybe another time, as this is definitely not the last time I fly Turkish Airlines.

This is an area where Turkish Airlines can really improve. When I reached the gate, there was already a large crowd there. To make matters even more confusing, there are no group upload signs. And there may be, but they are small and low and no one sees them.

Boarding started about 15 minutes late, consistent with my experience on other Turkish flights. They often say that boarding starts an hour before departure and then never starts on time.

There were no announcements either, I just saw a few people go through the gate and elbow in front. I didn’t actually hear any announcements as I passed through several dozen gates, so maybe that’s not what you do in Istanbul.

After I sat down, the flight attendants gave me lemonade. I love the Turkish lemonade they serve with fresh mint leaves and I look forward to it. And I’ll definitely ask before I even fly!

Turkish Business Class on this route has a 2-3-2 configuration. It’s not ideal, but I always choose an aisle seat in the middle. Fortunately, the plane was not full and no one sat in the middle.

There isn’t much privacy either, but unless you’re flying solo, you won’t be separated by a large bulkhead in the middle. But if you want some privacy, there is a small partition that you can detach to separate you from your companion.

There was a pair of slippers, a pillow and a small blanket prepared on the seat when I got on the plane. Having flown long Turkish flights before, I know the crew will make the bed afterwards with a nice mattress, duvet and cover on my pillow.

Side note: I love wearing slippers on airplanes and even wear a pair of hotel slippers on economy class flights longer than 4 hours.

The seats are very comfortable but could use a bit more storage space. I store my purse and sneakers in the footrest and have a small pocket on the inside of the seat big enough for my phone and Kindle. There is a USB charging port and a socket in the seat pocket.

Since there is no leg room, there is more room to move when you are fully upright. Don’t jam your feet into small spaces.

Once we reached cruising altitude, the flight attendant transferred the amenity kit. The ladies have a cute pink bag and the men have a black bag. I love pink so I’m glad to get something so feminine for a change. I collect handy bags in business class and use them for makeup, ties and other random trinkets.

Business Class passengers have free Wi-Fi on board, but you’ll need the help of a flight attendant to get online. They came to ask the passengers who were awake (it was almost 3am) if they could help us connect our devices to the Wi-Fi. I watched as the flight attendant went through several screens to connect my phone to the built-in Wi-Fi. Wi-Fi is fast enough for Facebook and WhatsApp, but I haven’t tried internet at work yet.

The lavatories were kept spotlessly clean during this 9.5 hour flight. The lavatory is equipped with a large square wash basin, a small detail that makes Turkish business class stand out a little more.

I know Turkey has a chef on board who prepares food for business class passengers. But when everyone was seated, TWO chefs in white coats and chef’s hats went over the menus. The breakfast menu is tucked into the dinner menu and I’ve marked what I wanted for another meal.

The main menu advertised dinner ‘on request’ and I decided to take a long nap first as it was well past 3am. Unfortunately, when I woke up a few hours before landing, the chef told me that the dinner service was closed and that they would be preparing to serve an early breakfast.

I was looking forward to delicious food and “candlelight” dinners in the sky (dinners on Turkish long-haul flights are served with little flickering candles), but I fell asleep.

In my opinion, breakfast is usually the weak point of all airlines. I wish they served more local food instead of breakfast. My flight arrives at According to the Hong Kong Times, my favorite lunch is scrambled eggs and some cheese.

I love all the specialty teas Turkey has to offer! I always try to try at least two different teas.

Consistent with my previous experience with Turkish, the service was impeccable. The staff is kind, courteous and always smiling. This is actually my favorite part of Turkish Airlines – the flight attendants always look like they love their job and are genuinely happy to see you on the plane.

Turkey always has a great selection of American and international movies and TV series. Some of their Turkey travel TV shows are also worth watching. I like the big screen, but they put the noise canceling headphones together about 45 minutes before landing. We were given disposable headphones which seemed like a waste. Do people really steal headphones from airplanes?

Flying with Turkish is a great way to get from Israel, the Middle East or even Europe to Hong Kong if you can’t take a direct flight. There are no direct Star Alliance flights from Israel to Hong Kong for me.

Since I booked this flight with ANA miles and ANA charges a surcharge on the award ticket, I looked for an airline that doesn’t charge hundreds of dollars like Lufthansa and Austria. The Turkish surcharge is very reasonable and I saved my flight time by not flying over Western Europe.

I really recommend Turkish Airlines for the excellent service, delicious food and the many rewards it gives to its partners. Even without booking round-the-world travel, I can often find award seats with Aeroplan or United miles.

Expectations That Were Too High: A Review Of Turkish Airlines Business Class On The Boeing 777

In 2019, Turkish began flying its new Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner on several routes, including flights from Washington Dulles (IAD), New York (JFK) and Atlanta (ATL). The new business class cabin looks spectacular and I look forward to flying Turkish again soon!
